FileAssurity Zip
Security
and Secure Zip FilesFileAssurity's secure zip files are a secure, low cost, easy to use  alternative to WinZip and PKZIP.   FileAssurity's zip security  provides a similar level of compression to WinZip yet use strong encryption (AES 256 bit).   FileAssurity zip security uses strong encryption to secure zip files whilst WinZIP only supports weak password protection. Password protected files are open to attack because the protection mechanism can be easily broken. In
fact, you can download programs off the Internet that specifically perform this task.
In addition, FileAssurity zip security ensures the integrity and authenticity of your secure zip files (so you know if they have been tampered with and who sent you the files) by the use of digital signature technology.
Free reader software is available so other people can unprotect and verify your secure zip files without having to purchase the full product.

The following  is an extract from WinZIPs manual: " Password protecting files in a secure Zip file provides a measure of protection against casual users who don't
have the password and are trying to determine the contents of your files. The Zip 2.0 encryption format, however, is not as secure as DES and the RSA public key formats used by programs such as PGP, and does not provide absolute protection against determined individuals with advanced cryptographic tools. If you require strong encryption, we recommend you use a specialized encryption software instead of the Zip 2.0 encryption format.
